wtf moment

So we are thinking of getting Dora a bike with training wheels. I want to get a bike that will be okay for Max as well. ALL bikes are either for girls or for boys. I know i can find something in between (boys), but, seriously. Enough with princesses, Bratz, Barbies and all other junk! Why can't there be a normal unisex bicycle ( Read more... )

i recently worked on a short story about a little boy whose favorite color was pink, and how when he requested a pink bicycle, his parents searched EVERYWHERE for a pink bike that wasn't clearly for girls. (eventually, they did find one, amazingly enough.)

I hear you on the gender bias! We got Lydia a red 16 inch boys magna last year. She agreed to it as long as we got her a pink basket ;) I'm looking for a bike for my 3 y.o., I think I want a BIG three wheeler for him rather than smaller 2 wheeler + training wheels.

ps. even red one was hard to find! boys' are mostly blue-green-dark whatever. Good thing red is her favorite color.

The last few times he went riding a bike, Gosha was riding a bright pink bike with sparkles on it :)
