I've become scared of the dark since moving into my parent's basement, so most of my creepy stories involve some variation of me being scared of the dark. It's not paranormal, but this was a genuinely terrifying series of events. Long story short: I am not safe in my parent's house.
Our back door semi-broke last week. The latch thing that comes out when the handle isn't pushed down is jammed so the only way to shut our door is to lock it shut. Still, I'd prefer knowing it's locked and safe than easy to access.
This one happened on October 31st [was posted on November 1st], which was 11 days after my best friend died. Something... weird happened last night. And fuck if I feel crazy, I'm telling ya'll about it.
I went to bed after writing that post and I was a wreck; I was laying in bed sobbing and shaking and hyperventilating. And this shadow, it moved across my ceiling and to the top of my curtains and disappeared. The instant that I saw it, calmness overtook me completely. I stopped crying, I was breathing slowly--all at once, as soon as I saw the shadow.
Now, I've had this bedroom for over eight years. I know what is and is not normal, in regards to shadows from outside and shit like that. This was... not normal

My fiance's sister told me a creepy childhood story. When she was about 3 or 4, she had one of those dolls that could speak. There were incidents where the doll continued to randomly say things even after they took out the battery. Of course, the parents just dismissed it as a broken toy. She told me that at that age, she thought it was normal for toys to whisper things and crawl in bed with her. One day, the mom found her sitting at the bottom of the stairs and staring at the kitchen door at 5am in the morning. She was following the doll's instruction. A few hours later, the parents threw the doll away. The memory still creeps her out till today. The mom refuses to talk about it

people often hallucinate before death, and can be awake and aware enough to tell us about it. Usually it's the crowded room phenomena or bugs or animals.
Back in 2008, we had a guy in room 2, and he was easy to know. Always wore a cap, and was up in his electric chair to go outside to smoke a lot. After he passed away, weeks later, the new lady in room 2 was close to death. She saw a man with a cap in a wheelchair who would talk to her.
So did the patient in room 4, the next night. They both described the same person, and they were unable to leave their rooms and chat with eachother about how to fuck with the hospice staff. Pretty strange :)
When I was 15, I was in bed....I had just crawled in, and was lying there with my eyes closed thinking about an art class I had the next day. I opened my eyes, and saw what I thought was my mom, at first, standing right by my bed. But she was misty-looking and white/blue, not solid....typical 'ghost' that you hear people talk about.
Now, I'm agnostic I guess, so I don't necessarily believe in spirits/ghosts, but I know what I saw. I don't know if I was hallucinating or what. I wasn't on drugs. I could have been half-dreaming or whatever, but I honestly wasn't even sleepy - I had just gotten into bed, and I didn't feel drowsy or anything. Anyway, I was frozen in fear...I couldn't even scream or move. I shut my eyes right away and eventually flipped over and buried my face in my pillow. My heart was pounding in my throat. I think I ended up sleeping downstairs on the couch the rest of the night.
This happened 20 years ago, and I have only ever told one person about this IRL.
Yes, as far as visuals. But I had a few other experiences in that same bedroom. A few years before that, I thought my mom was in there (again) while I was in bed, because I heard someone walking around, and I felt a presence. I was facing the wall though and couldn't see. I thought my mom was snooping for something in there, and I flipped my lamp on to 'catch' her, and there was no one there - my door was totally shut, too.
Another time I heard footsteps coming from that room, when I was downstairs in the room just below it. I thought it was my mom walking around up there, and I kept waiting for her to come downstairs because I was going to tell her something. Then she came through the back door carrying in groceries(I didn't know she was gone). No one else was home, either.

Caught on CCTV? That's fairly awesome. Has the place got history you know of?
