what's the most interesting thing on the ballot in your area? what results are you most anxious to hear?

Washington state is voting to legalize gay marriage and decriminalize marijuana. I am VERY interested to see how they'll do (gay marriage will almost definitely pass; weed could go either way but I'm leaning toward a pass, barely).

I've never seen a ballot that has anything other than the names of the people running in my riding. So, unless they have a funny name, nothing has been interesting.

It would annoy me to have to fill out all of that shit. I like the simple ballots we have.

Minnesota is trying to make gay marriage constitutionally illegal, instead of just regular illegal. HAY-UL NO.

Florida would like to do that, too. But there have been improvements in our state where folks are coming over to the rational side and leaving the Dr. Crazy Pants party.

I don't think anything is specifically local on my ballot, but the one that most scares me if it passes is No 8, which has been deliberately misworded to confuse voters. It muddies the separation of State and Church. It pisses me off that it's even ON the ballot.

I'm curious about this one. Can you point me to some info on this, please?

(Your profile doesn't say where you're located, otherwise I would probably have found something on my own.)

The previous language barred religious organizations from receiving public funds. It appears that this applied to religious organizations that were providing what would typically be secular social services ( ... )

we've got the massachusetts death with dignity bill and we're also voting to legalize medicinal marijuana.

yeah, we've had medicinal marijuana for a while (I work across the street from a dispensary), but all it did was make the cops' job harder, so we're just going for total decriminalization.

we've sort of decriminalized it, if you're caught with less than an ounce you don't get arrested, you just get a fine. but we still don't have it legally for medicinal purposes. i'd love it if every state would just decriminalize the stuff.
