I'm a great fan of music covers, especially those who adapt one song into another music style. For example there's a nice acoustic cover of Lady Gaga's "Poker Face", as a Goth version of her "Bad romance", a Goth cover of Amy McDonald's "This is the life", a Goth (again?!) cover of Lennon's "Image", a metal cover of Phil Collins's "In the air ( Read more... )

I pretty much love everything Richard Cheese has ever done. Nothing like hearing Nirvana's "Rape Me" as a bouncy lounge song.

As far as actual favorite covers go, I really like Cake's version of "Guitar Man."

Seconding Cake. They have a great album of mostly covers called "B-sides and Rarities" with Guitar Man, Ruby, War Pigs, to name a few. They also feature at least one cover on several of their other albums, like I Will Survive and Sad Songs and Waltzes.

Weird Al does polka cover medleys of pop songs.

I love Weird Al. Though my favorite song of his has got to be "Biggest ball of twine in Minnesota." Never been a huge fan of his polka stuff.

I'm a fan of Vitamin String Quartet which does string quartet covers of popular songs. Actually, I'm a fan of any sort of orchestral/string/piano cover of pop songs (when it's done well, anyway).
