My favorite band is in my city tonight. I originally had four people supposed to go with me, but one has to see her in-laws, one has out-of-town guests, one is sick, and one is currently an hour away and might not make it back in time. Should I go alone? Help me be braver, please?

No? I mean, I've seen them four times in the past year and a bit, and I love them, but the last music show I went to by myself was kind of miserable and while I enjoyed the first of three sets, I left halfway through the third because the anxiety was too much for me. I'm not very good at things in public.

I'm no expert on social anxiety or anything, but I would say just focus on the songs if you can, and try to ignore everything else.

I also find that being up against the barricade/riding the rail helps immensely for my anyway, because I could give a shit less who is to my right/left so long as the singer is right in my face being sexy. Numnumnum.

I think being in the back might be good. I've never been to this particular venue before and have no idea what it's like, which is part of the problem. If it was a place I'd been before, I'd be way less anxious.

Go! It's your favourite band, you'll regret if you don't go. I've gone alone plenty of times because I hate making plans with people. What's the worst thing that could happen there? It's not like you need bunch of people with you to enjoy good music! So yes: go, go, go!

Ok I am planning everything since my anxiety has a lot to do with being someplace new. I have google mapped what the place looks like from the outside and how I will need to go from the Metro, and I have checked Metro's website to see what delays there are this weekend and I am PREPARED.

If I knew they were coming back soon, I'd skip it, but there's always a chance they won't hit up DC for another nine months like they did last year. I'm going.
