Oh that is interesting. Now it makes me wonder when some men say 'Asian' is their type, when Asia is of a wide range of height and skin color. Chinese look so different from Arabs. I always assume everyone means the East Asians, but now that you mention that bit about Brits, now that's a new thing for me.
Brits I knew had their minds go to South Asia upon thinking or talking about Asia.
Because a large portion of their migrant population are from South Asia, methinks. What I understand from my British colleagues is that East Asians are a minority within the minority.
Interesting! That's another thing that inspired this post. Someone told me Filipinos (and probably Indonesians too since they're neighbor countries) shouldn't be really considered Asian even if they technically are. Person said pacific islander was more appropriate. So maybe islander is what you think of too? I was born and raised here in the Philippines btw, so i'm interested.
hm, Oddly enough I think of Filipino's and Indonesians as completely different. I can't say I've ever really had friends from either country, but in a vague way I think of Indonesians as more Middle-eastern/Muslim, and Filipino's as more Pacific Islanders-ish?/Catholics
You are right about the Philippines.and indonesia being muslim. What's more interesting, native indonesians and native filipinos actually look alike. Kind of the same geography too, both archipelagos. Indonesia is right below the philippines. But like you said, you think about them differently. It's interesting.
