Does anyone else but me really hate Christmas?  I didn't always hate it, but it seems as the years go on, the more I just can't stand it.  Everything about it irritates me, from the commercials on TV to the decorations in the stores to the music, to all the waste, waste, waste and crowds of people and artificiality.

Ugh, I just can't stand it.

christmas, you are the problem

Christmas itself I like. I like that every year my whole family gets together to eat, drink and be merry around a beautifully, lovingly decorated tree. None of us are particularly devout. I don't even consider myself to BE Christian, but I like what the celebration means to my family.

Everything else about Christmas can go to hell. The songs and the "everyone be nice on Christmas, but forget the rest of the year"-thing, the cheesey plastic toys & candy, black friday & greed. To hell i say.

I love Christmas-time. Work is busy, time goes by faster, more people around at work. Then I go home where it's remote and rural and beautiful and sit by the fire and eat whatever Christmas cookies my sister has made and whatever. I avoid the stores alright. The Christmas music gets old but I just turn off the radio. I don't know.

I'm with you. I love it, and if there are parts of the holidays I don't like, I just avoid or ignore them. Simple!

I dislike the season because of the commercialization, but the actual holiday (well, Yule for me) is a blast due to family + presents. :)

I can see hating specific parts of it (like the crowds. Go go go Internet!) but I can't see hating everything about it :(

I honestly can't think of one thing I like. Maybe because it's always all been dumped on me. All the preparation, cooking, shopping, wrapping, decorating... everything. For the last twenty years I've tried to make it ~*~special~*~ and all that happens is I end up stressed, angry, and with a huge mess to clean up. Humbug on all of it.

Well, if you're in charge of Christmas for your family, then simplify it! I say, as the one in charge, you get to decide how your family celebrates it.

Yeah I've found that people who hate Christmas end up being the ones usually to do the work. I think you should phone up one of your siblings and say "you're doing Christmas this year" :P

I don't really like Christmas, either. Even though we usually have a nice time, I don't really 'get it'. I could definitely live without it.
