Ahhhh, I had this happen. It hurt like hell to breastfeed or pump (we had to supplement with formula two times, simply because it hurt too badly for me to endure nursing or pumping on those occasions, and I hadn't started pumping anyway so we had no backup bottles; she was only a week old. The intense stabbing pain of it really was excruciating.) Within two days of the Lotrimin treatment I felt a lot less pain (until those two days had passed, I just gritted my teeth and endured it). Good times. A week should do it; they also treated my daughter for thrush at the same time.
Agh, so good to know you had luck with Lotrimin. Thankfully it doesn't hurt too much to pump at all ... and in fact, if I have a bra and shirt on it actually feels BETTER than with them just hanging out, I guess because they can't move around as much in a bra. The nurse didn't seem to think I had too bad a case since I could still pump alright (though it does hurt when it first starts.) You think, if it doesn't hurt, I could at least wear a shirt around the house after a couple of days?
I don't see why not (but am not the nurse, so I'd ask), as long as you can stay dry (especially if you've got leakage) and do let them air out some too. Good luck!
we have thrush now. by we I mean my daughter has the spots in her mouth but I only had symptoms the first two days, last week. they say keep up treatments for two weeks after the symptoms end, to make sure before assuming it's gone.
oh, if you think your symptoms are gone or mostly gone, go ahead and wear a bra just use disposable nursing pads and change them frequently, and keep applying the treatment, whatever you're using, throughout the day.
I have not had children so no help on the question. but my twin and I were born really early and were 3 lbs 2 oz and 3 lbs 3 oz. We ended up just fine, grew up, were stupid smart and sister just graduated with a phd. The little ones can bounce back just fine! :)
Yay! My girl was 3 lbs 3 oz. :) Dad will be happy to hear about the PhD since he's planning on getting his. He's all concerned about her intellect, heh.
Well, remind him there are many different ways to be smart. Even if she doesn't turn out to be PhD smart, she'll still have things she'll excel at and amaze you with.
When I had nipple-thrush, the doctor gave me Nystatin cream for my nipples, and the babies had Nystatin drops that I would put half a dropperful on each side of their cheeks a few times a day.
It cleared up right away, although the Nystatin dried out my nipples something fierce! Of course I tried the good ol' Lansinoh for it, but it didn't help at all and I was miserable with the cracked nipples for quite some time... but you know what worked the best? Plain Vaseline Intensive Care lotion. /shrug I can't explain that at all, but it worked soooo fast.
