It hit me about three or four years ago that I'm not that funny. One thing I've noticed though is that I think of the majority of one-liners that a lot of people say, and I've already dismissed them in my head because I think they are too obvious and therefore NOT FUNNY. So a lot of people I know actually get frustrated because I don't laugh at their jokes.
And I just hate the jokes people make that are nothing more than references. A mere reference can sometimes be an okay joke, but sometimes it's nothing more than a reference and there's nothing funny about it!
Now that's not to say that I'm funny in my head and so brilliant that people can't make me laugh. There are certain people out there who really do think of things that crack me up. My stepson for one. He's been cracking me up in a surprising way for as long as I can remember - the surprise coming from the fact that I thought he was telling jokes that were advanced for his age back when he was like 9.
