In the land of the blind...

That went well! Okay, the left eye went off without a hitch anyway. Then the right eye -- I suppose it felt threatened, and I can't say I blame it -- went after Dr Rhodes' finger and I ended up having to yank it out by the root stalk (the eye, not the finger) and there was some blood and screaming and -- well, it's all sorted now. I sutured Rowena's right eyelid shut and she'll have a rakish eyepatch and she and Helen are back on the boat back to Flat Holm. Being able to see out of one eye must be better than being blind in both, right?

I left Dr Rhodes sleeping off a dose of Retcon at his desk. He'll wake up with a bandaged finger, 200 quid in his pocket and no memory of what happened.

I brought back the eye-creature in a tied-off latex glove. It didn't stop wriggling for a good twenty minutes, which was ... pretty disconcerting really. It looks rather like an oversized bean sprout with an eye-thing where the bean should be, if by "eye" you mean something like a Venus Fly Trap with teeth. It'll make a fine addition to the collection after it's been dissected.

All things considered, I'd call the day a success!

i'm a doctor not a nanny, current projects, flat holm not freak island
