jacaranda days
I heard you cradled in distant arms
with radar ping, metronome tick,
and lark's call sounding the proof
that you were not near anymore-
continental divide: divide us!

a fruitful dialectic bloomed
our straddling was a paradox
a joy that relished twilight
but stumbled in the dark
for hyperbole or fulfillment

laughing in the grocery store
