I just cleaned out the storage dewar, which Post-Doc had refilled with liquid nitrogen. She suggested that I thaw some vials and try them myself, maybe they'd grow for me. Because obviously, re-freezing the cells that died would bring them back to life? I cannot even begin to parse her logic

As far as I can tell? None.

Apparently her failure came out at a lab meeting the day before I got back, and my boss is gone to a grant review panel, so I heard from another member of the lab that when Post-Doc 'fessed up, he didn't really even reprimand her. On one level, it boggles my mind. But on the other, my boss is so fucking non-confrontational about EVERYTHING that I can't say that it surprises me. But I've reached the point where I have to ask: if he's not invested enough in being the boss to actually be the boss, why should I (or any of us) keep working for him? Because if that sort of half-assed lab behavior isn't punished and hard work isn't rewarded, what's the point?

Also (although this might be more Tabby's thing): when they play in KC, Rays family comes to the series. Or, well, his mom and granny do. Brad has no idea what Ray's said to Momma Person about him, but she gives him the stink eye all through lunch. Granma Arlene freaks him out a little with the pinch on the rear following the pat on the cheek, and the usher tells him later that she killed a six pack during the game and came perilously close to starting a riot when a KC fan called Ray a loser who couldn't field worth shit. Apparently THAT'S where Ray gets his mouth.

I saw something about PStump on twitter today! I'm so happy for him! I only met his GF briefly when we were following the tour last year, but she seemed nice and they were cute together, and I hope they are very happy.
