The way I've been working around it is by having the characters describe their own life stories, and in the process explain how things work or where things are located. Since Renee doesn't really now much, they do explain things to her.

Nice touch. I tend to end up adding context to characters' thoughts, and that's nothing if not the entrance to an endless loop.

It occurs to me that I don't seem to have your email address. I'm sure I've had it in the past, but I can't seem to find it.

But either way, I wanted to wish you a merry Christmas, and I figured you probably had LJ replies emailed to you, so this was better than nothing.

I know it's pretty much just a bastardization of the winter Solstice, but that's never mattered much to me. The way I look at it, every holiday out there is nothing but an arbitrary excuse its practitioners make to celebrate and have a good time. There's nothing inherently better about any day than any other, after all. But you know what? I don't see anything wrong with that. so this is my arbitrary chance to wish you a good day!
