Japanese Art/Architecture Terminology Question

A temple gate can be called 山門 or 三門; there might be other terms.

But what is a shrine gate called? I'm not talking about torii; I'm talking about structures like the gate to Dazaifu Tenmangû, which architecturally speaking is little or no different from, say, this gate at Sensôji, but which cannot be called 山門 because it is at a Shinto shrine, ( Read more... )

you can see the name of the gate above the picture you posted link to - 楼門 - roumon
you can also find the names of all the parts of Tenmangu on its web-site http://www.kitanotenmangu.or.jp/keidai/index.html

as for Buddhism and Shinto mixed together, it is a common thing. Many Shinto shrines have some Buddhist elements.
