I met David Gahan, the lead singer of Depeche Mode, in a elevator at Shutters Hotel in Santa Monica after seeing him perform two days prior to that at Coachella. More details to come!!

A friend of mine once ran into Queensrÿche in New Orleans. They managed to lure her onto their tour bus, but she made the driver stop when they tried to abduct her off to Houston.

It was while she was in college, so that'd be the 89-93 timeframe. I don't think it was a hotness factor so much as she caught their interest by being mean to them.

I should preface this by saying that she's a classical musician.

She said she was walking back from some kind of classical music event when she saw them after they'd done a show. The band was drunk and/or stoned, the roadies were trying to chase them onto the bus, and a bunch of groupies were, well, being groupies. The band was having fun flirting with the groupies and not in a big hurry to climb back on the bus for another drive.

My friend walked up and essentially said "Who the hell are you that all the groupies are making such a big deal?" They replied, "We're Queensrÿche; we're a big rock band."

She sniffs and says that she just came from [classical music event], and that's real music. The drunk/stoned band then starts trying to argue the merits of rock music with her ( ... )

That is hilarious! Maybe I'll feign being anti-rock so I can get a band to kidnap me. ;P Good story.

It wasn't the kind of hotel I would have expected to see a "rock star" yet it makes sense considering it's nice and relaxing and DM is pushing 50 years of age. heh
