Packaging Spotlight 004: Brilliant Legacy

Mar 21, 2010 00:13

I was so happy to come home after work on Friday night and find my copy of the Brilliant Legacy (a.k.a. Shining Inheritance) DVD box set had landed early! I loved the show when I watched it the first time around, and I'm actually watching it for the second time as I type up this post. The set is lovely - it totally lives up to all the press release images - and it's full of shots of the main cast.

Brilliant Legacy
Tons of photos ahead

The box itself is made of a sturdy chipboard and has a glossy finish. It's three standard-sized DVD cases wide and houses all nine discs. Also, no matter what side of the box you look at, there's plenty of detail.

Did I mention how much I love the coloring? It's just so warm and summery!

Each of the individual cases also has an attractive cover, and a flip insert to hold all the discs inside.

Case one holds four discs, each of which features a shot of the main characters.

The other nice thing is the large image on the reverse side of the case liner.

And here's the second case's contents.

The third case only has the final disc, but it also holds two smiley face pins like the ones from the restaurant uniforms. They're a cute extra that I totally wasn't expecting when I opened the case up, and there they were smiling (and frowning) up at me.

And, of course, there's the final reverse image that mirrors the cast photo on the front of the box.

The set also features over 145 minutes of special features in the form of one insanely long talk show. There are cast interviews, blooper reels and tons of behind-the-scenes clips. It's a lot of fun and really informative, especially if you like seeing glimpses of how the actors act around one another when not in their roles.

Overall, it's a great looking set with an excellent dose of extra content in addition to the series' 28 episodes. If you're a fan of the show, this is definitely a great set to pick up.
