I love this. You capture the relationship between Arthur and Merlin really well, and I like Merlin and Morgana working together. The description of Merlin's magic was really powerful and yes, Merlin would change the outcome of this situation, even if it means his own death.

The end? No, this cannot be the end! Merlin is lying in his blood with a crossbow bolt in his chest, but you did not write that he was dead... yet... *is hopeful*

I'd like to see more from you (even if it is Arthur mourning his friend).
