*tumbleweed*

OK, I have been neglecting this little comm and I feel bad. I fully plan to get it back up and running shortly.

In the meantime, Murder in Suburbia is one of the main fandoms in passion_perfect's Speed Challenge. (Trying to produce more fics in particular fandoms quickly, hence 'speed' challenge)

passion_perfect also has the theme of 'first' going. So, your ( Read more... )

I don't know how many people are icon makers etc., but what about a graphics challenge? Icons, wallpaper, banners, picture stories?

Or for fic: theme challenges, a list of words to be incorporated in a story, a dialogue only piece, a certain setting in which the fic must take place. That's all that comes to mind right now.

I'd love to do a graphics challenge. Personally, I am graphically challenged so I wouldn't be able to take part, but I would love to host one. I've never done one before so I'm not sure what the best course of action is. Do I give people a pic or screencap to interpret as they see fit? Do I give them a prompt which they fulfill graphically? Do I just say 'Episode 1' in graphic form?

The fic challenge I am mulling over in my head right now. I have a couple of ideas so I may do a poll...

That would all work. You could provide, say, 6 screencaps and have people make three icons from them. Prompts are great, too, something like 'smiles', 'in the car' or 'black and white'. For this, everyone would have to find their own pictures. As for picture story, you could limit the amount of pictures used (for example no more than ten) and give a rough idea of what the story could entail, or just let people's imagination take it from there.
Then everybody could just enjoy lovely graphics, or you could include a voting.

As for fic...I was just thinking about a joint venture. People sign up and then, in a certain order, they write a story together. 200 words from the first person, then the next one continues, and so on. But that might be a stupid idea.

Hmmm, a round robin. I've never really been involved in one of those...might be fun.

I'm going to do something challenge-y next weekend. Haven't decided what yet. Might still do that poll.

...ok this is completely random but it just came to me, people could message you to take part and they get in return a room, prop and third person to incorporate (in a completely non-threesome way please!). It has murderous overtones!

This has definite possibilities!!! I'd need to think about exactly how it would work, but I think it could be great.

The other thing I was considering was having an 'Undercover' challenge. People provided prompts of undercover operations they'd like to see Ash & Scribbs engaged in...maybe there's a way of combining the two?

Hmmmm...

I have a bunch of plot ideas for Ash/Scribbs fic but never organise my time to sit down and write them. Plus I tend to hop from one half-finished dribble to another. A challenge would maybe force me to focus and submit something useable for once. I'm 'cited!

I did start off thinking my Cluedo idea was a little limited. After all, there's only so much you can do to Miss Scarlet with a candlestick in the conservatory....without falling into the realm of extreme smut!. However, by saying prop, room and third person, writers are given more leeway.

I think I need a challenge myself to start writing again. I'll get something kicked off next week, I think.

The Prop/Room/Person thing is really interesting...think we'll have to do something with that.
