Mmmm... Thai Food

Tonight I finally made use of the skills and experience I got from taking the Thai cooking class in Bangkok, and passed that along by way of running a mini cooking class for jontheprophet and . We only cooked three dishes, not all twelve from the class, but we did hit the big highlights: tom yum soup, pad thai, and penang curry (all vegetarian, of course). The ( Read more... )

Next time your up this way, stick your head into an H-Mart. (Think Oasis turned into something the size of a large grocery store, with better stuff.)

about 1/2 of the meals I cook around here are Thai these days....lots of rice based food for Kayla.

I ended up getting them mail-order -- a bit pricey with shipping, but you can get a bigger box and they're supposed to freeze well. I picked up their Thai produce kit too, with galangal, lemongrass, etc.

The produce quality is ok - not as fresh as in Bangkok, but not bad (other than one lime turning up completely moldy)

The Wegman's up in Hunt Valley, MD sometimes has kaffir lime leaves too, but it's really hit-or-miss if they're in stock.

Ah I lurve you!!!! Many hugs and kisses!

My googlefu failed on this and 2 Asian markets that I've tried in the area have never heard of it. A third one I tried knew what I wanted but said they couldn't carry it.

Woo, it's a happy Snoopy-dance day!

Remind me to tell you sometime about my ethnic market revelation.
