I believe that Marcus was executed in Longview, which I think was in California. Not sure why the dude was wearing a cowboy hat and bolo, but I don't think it was supposed to make the viewer think that the location was now Texas.

There is no city or town named Longview in California. However, there is a city called Longview in Texas.

Marcus is executed in California. I think that was specified somewhere in the movie, but it was very explicit in the novel ( ... )

There's a novelization of Salvation. It's just called Terminator Salvation by Alan Dean Foster. There's also a prequel novel to Salvation by Timothy Zahn, but it really isnt as good.

Yes, I'm quite aware of that. I was simply commenting upon it. It's rare that one can say they saw his or her own governor in the buff.
