While you make some good points, I have to disagree with you about your main one. Nora and Kevin are clearly plot points meant simply to keep the two lovebirds apart, but to say that Harris and Smulders have no chemistry is a little too far. This last season was a well orchestrated roller coaster ride in my opinion and even though the show revealed a great deal about the future, I am still left wracking my brain about what the future holds. The first time Harris and Smulders came together, I was in shock at how I hadn't seen how well they worked together. They are the most complex characters on the show and it would be a crime not to have them get together in the end. However, it is because of this complexity that there was so much uncertainty about their future.
Great article and I can definitely see myself siding with you on all of it, but I'd be lying if I said I wasn't looking forward to what happens next between them.
I said that Smulders and Harris had NO CHEMISTRY when it came to their characters being in love. They have great chemistry when Barney and Robin are friends; or Barney is making a pass at Robin. But every time there is a scene featuring those two being seriously romantic, there is a hollow feeling in the pit of my stomach. I consider Ted, Marshall and Lily to be just as complex as Barney and Robin.
And most of Season Seven still sucked for me, thanks to the heavy emphasis on Robin and Barney.
