I understand your point about how either sister could have been possessed if they were alone in the house, but you have to remember as well that the Woogy actually said to the possessed repairman to get Phoebe in the basement so it could possess her, because she had a stronger connection to the house. I don't think however that the writers or Constance Burge were trying to suggest that that was the reason for her delinquent behaviour as a teenager, that was just her being a teenager. Also the point you made about all the other people that got possessed not being born in the manor, doesn't really make much sense. The writers were suggesting that because Phoebe was born in the manor, just like Wyatt who turned evil (so at least they were consistant) she was more susseptible to the power of the nexus, maybe not specifically evil itself. The other people who got possessed were just extra bodies the woogy could possess, Pheobe was just the preffered sister because of the connection she had to the house. This is one of my favourite season 1 ( ... )

I was going to reply this point as well. As Phoebe (and Wyatt) were born in the Manor, their personal energies are more prominent in the building (this is a Pagan philosophy). Therefore, the Woogyman would have been able to latch onto that energy, making possession easier. Same as how the Witch Doctors hex the sisters in Season 5's House Call- a personal connection makes it easier to possess/hex. Its more difficult, but not impossible, without.
It would make sense for the Woogy to pick the sister he's most connected to. Phoebe interpreted this as the Woogy picking her because she could be more easily manipulated as their energies are entwined.

I do agree with the Chinese elements thing- that was daft. But that was probably chosen because it would be hard to find somewhere in the Bay Area to signify Spirit and Air. It was likely to be a creative choice to suit the plot, not because the writers are stupid.

I'm sorry, but the idea of Phoebe and Wyatt being more prone to evil, because they have a stronger connection to the manor doesn't buy it with me. It's nothing more than one-dimensional characterization.

And by the way, didn't anyone notice that Prue got the Wiccan elements wrong? She had listed Chinese elements, not Wiccan elements. Now . . . could someone please explain how Prue was right, when she got the elements listed wrong? Or that each Halliwell has proven - quite easily - how prone they are to evil?

Every individual has a 50/50 chance of choosing a certain moral compass or swinging from good to evil or back. Why is this hard to accept? Even amongst television writers?

I think the writers are stupid. And this whole Nexus theory is an example of how stupid they can be. It's one dimensional characterization at its worst.
