"Don't try to be an artist, I try to be a man."

I don't post or comment here nearly enough now. That should change.

I met up with John H for drinks last night. We talked about the art of Ian Miller, H.G. Wells' mainstream fiction, hyperflationary currency, the unbuilt planetarium in Centenary Square that caught my imagination a few weeks ago (of which a bit more later); he'd seen the same architect's model recently. He gave me a copy of his new Steaua de Munta novella The Lustre of Time (which I'm currently reading alongside The Dark Is Rising series, which I've never read before!) Thanks, John!

Earlier in the week, I went to stay with N and R. There were cuddles and fajitas, the first two episodes of Night Vale; I cooed over their new engagement rings. We watched the the first episode of Leverage too. R is a huge fan, so she was hugely pleased that I liked it. She'll make me watch the whole series now. I have been assimilated.

Not One Of Us #53 is out this week! It contains my story and poem "Half The War Is A Memory Of Trees" (which is slightly longer than its title!) and "Ammonite (12" Mix)". Happy to be sharing pages with the likes of sovay and Patricia Russo again.

As for new writing... I've shelved the the proposed carnival idea for Furze 2 in favour of a story called Dead Stars. It'll use the lost planetarium of Centenary Square as well as a subterranean observatory under the cemeteries of the Jewellery Quarter. Though I'm only in the early stages of planning, it'll be much more of a caper than Other Voices. (Basic plot: a master thief is trying to steal an astronomical device used by the dead to navigate their journeys; I'm not sure yet of their motives. Much love to gizmometer, who told me what ghosts wanted with stars.)

books, furze, lovers, friends
