Poly Marriage

How's this poly marriage thing supposed to work, anyway? Is it transitive? If A & B are married, and B & C are married, does that mean A & C are married?

Short answer: However the involved parties want it to work. :-)

NOT GOOD ENOUGH. Marriage is more than just a private arrangement, because we already have those. Marriage is something recognised by the community.

So do it (likely more like a hand-fasting as bigamy 'n' related such-likes remain illegal) as a communal event w/friends and family looking on and voicing/showing/demonstrating approval (speak know or forever hold your peace).

It's good enough for me, and it's good enough for most those that practice it. If it's not good enough for you, well, you must want it to work differently. ;-)

Nope. You can make whatever arrangements you like amongst all concerned (in the r-ship), but regular maths rules don't apply. Where things get really tricky is upon partial breakup. If A & B & C are all married together, then A & C split up, what does that do to A&B and B&C? Eep!

I'd say possibly, but not necessarily. A&C are in the middle of the Venn diagram.

There's no-one to ask, though, because there's no-one who is actually in a poly marriage, at least here in the U.S. I'm going to post again about this to clarify what I meant.
