NM, AZ and West Texas Part 1

Last week, on Thursday, Zach asked if I could get off work some of the next week. I said it was a long shot, but I would ask. So Friday morning I found out that I could, and we left on Friday afternoon after dropping Clementine off at his parent's house.

I've driven through New Mexico a few times, and the first time I was absolutely struck by one of the most beautiful sky/landscape combinations I had ever seen. Purple-red tint, two rows of clouds with lightning bouncing between them, and plateaus and mountains just below.

I take it you didn't make it to Carlsbad? Had you been there before? Really worth doing if you haven't.

I don't know if you read my entry about White Sands; that was almost four years back. Anyway, I had a memorable hike there and was really impressed with the place.
