I think this is by far the worst semester academically for me. Maybe it's because I have 4 day weekends and it makes me want to relax forever, but I just don't want to go to class at all anymore. Between getting attacked in Movement and the ridiculous assignments that my other classes have, I just don't feel like doing anything. Speaking of

what the hell is with that assignment? Decolonization means not having a country as a colony anymore and withdrawing from that country. what does that have to do with interracial relationships? and what the hell is with that TA? Why would they say "interracial relationships are wrong" to people who are taking that class? I think most of the assignments you have have nothing to do with anything.

I don't know why they say things like that. The professor actually said "The only reason Filipinos date white people is because they want more social power in American society." WTF! So I guess she thinks that interracial relationships are a bad thing because it's saying that Filipinos want to give up their culture to be whitewashed? WTF WTF! There are so many messed up things about that argument.
I'm thinking about writing a poem about how interracial relationships are just as good as any other relationship, just to go against their silly argument.

Thanks for the really detailed definition, that's sort of what I thought decolonization meant.. time to figure out how it relates to Fil Ams and how to write a poem about it >_

Good luck with your poem. If I had to write it, I'd just write about the struggle of achieving decolonization from a Filipino perspective. But that theme isn't very modern, it's rather old isn't it?

That's a good idea, I'll try to go with that. It's definitely an old theme.. for some reason my class just adored the thought of it. We're doing a 3 hour show at the Filipino Cultural Center based on decolonization o.o I was hoping for "Breaking stereotypes" or "Generational Conflict" since those are less brain-breaking, but the votes decided it >_<
