Today was my parents' 70th wedding anniversary. :-) They got married in Phoenix, Arizona, this day in 1951. This was a riveting story! ... Great pix too, especially the old western union item with Spanish headers!
I did get the shock in the middle of the tale about the huge monetary losses... :/ ... but glad to hear they eventually recovered. Still, kinda wonder what their lives would have been like had they been able to keep those initial funds.

I've always thought that, had Dad not lost all his money after he married my mom, my parents would have adopted a child (or children) much sooner. So either I would have had elder siblings growing up, or, I might not have been adopted by them at all, meaning I would have gone to someone else. I don't like to think about that! So in my case, I'm glad what happened happened, as I kind of like the way fate worked out for me.
