Drake is physically exhausted from the ball. Dancing, it appears, is much harder than anticipated. He is also disappointed about Ryan's mood, but that can wait.

Phoenix had promised him company and then vanished. This distresses him more than it should, he knows, so he stands in front of Tara, hand hovering but not touching. She is very like a fairytale, suspended this this, but he cannot look away.

He steps in quietly, an apology about to burst from his mouth, rather than the curses he's been making toward Addie under his breath for the last half-hour. Phoenix stops and looks at the figure in front of Drake, at first glimpse thinking that she's real.

She isn't. She can't possibly be.

"I'm sorry, I didn't expect to have to... I'll.. if you're angry with me.. I'll.." The words 'go away' don't seem to want to come.

He steps forward and holds out a hand. "You will sit with me?"

"If ever you are, it won't be my intention." Phoenix takes the offered hand with a smile of his own, one that is reminiscent of the angel he once was. "I will, and I'll stay, if you want."

He can't help but look at the curtain, wondering, but daren't ask, unsure if it will be seen as prying.
