Some would argue, he supposes, that this isn't really living, but they would not argue for long. Drake is free from those crippling emotions again, but his body is still full of...urges, impulses, and now he does not have that human conscience holding him back.
He is the Dragon mind in the human body and it is exhilarating.
Drake has also learned a little about hierarchy. There are the masters and there are the demons and there are the pets. Drake is a pet. More importantly, he is Sam's pet. And this means that all other pets answer to him - with exceptions, of course.
However, when he spies the young man standing on the edge of the pit, he knows he does not recognise him. And he is holding a collar.
Vaguely aware that he's not alone, Phoenix looks round and takes a step back, a couple of feet away from the edge.
His own experiences with the heirarchy have very quickly taught him not to make assumptions. The girl, Ava, he'd been delighted at the power demons have over her and forced his will to some degree. Then he'd made that same mistake with Ryan, the princess's favoured pet.
This time, he inclines his head with a mixture of deference and dignity. The Ambassador of a world to which he cannot retreat, and the reluctant toy of a goddess, has to be a little more mindful. At least until he's fully aware of who outranks who.
"Usually, it's either despair or morbid curiosity that brings people here." He remarks idly, shoving the collar into a pocket. "And you show little sign of the former."
Ahh, the King himself. This stranger is no demon ..But neither is he mortal. All Phoenix can feel is fire, different but not unwelcome. He was born a creature of fire himself.
"We've all been there. I was nothing more than a useless, frightened child, running from shadows. Until his highness set me free" He makes a little mock-bow. "Phoenix Kaelen, Demon, toy .. and company if you wish. Among other things."

"I once knew despair, but my king has healed me. I was...walking, looking for company. Are you...company?"
