[for Del]

[dated to the 18th]Today, like most days, the bookshelf was doing what it did best: annoying the shit out of him. It was back on the vampire novel kick and it seemed particularly keen on The Southern Vampire Mysteries books this time around. Now, as darling as she was, in all her Southern glory, Asher wasn't that interested in reading up on the ( Read more... )

Pregnant. Pee-argh-ee-gee-en-aay-en-tee. Short for Trouble. Tee-Argh-Oh-You-Bee-ell-ee. Definitly something unplanned; a consequence that she'd been too forgetful and stupid to imagine. A life lesson in humanity: expect the unexpected. But how to tell Asher, that was Delirium's current dilemma. Every part of her wanted to blurt it out or maybe leave him a series of clues like in the Da Vinci Code. Except no one would really like it if she wrote on dead bodies, not even the dead bodies that got up and walked around.

Spotting him on the couch, she paced to the couch opening her mouth to speak before darting away. Coming back again and then running away, until she finally stopped and sighed.

"i NEEd to taLK at You anD yOU'Re nOT ALLOwed to shOUT AT me oR THrow thiNGS at mE oR sic onYx on mE." Delirium said, touching her flat (for now) stomach protectively.

It was kind of like watching an already twitchy squirrel suffering from Tourette's syndrome, the way Del came and went and came and went. Not that Asher spent a lot of time watching squirrels.

"Uh... okay? I'll do my best?" He didn't even have anything to throw. Pillows could only inflict so much damage, and he was pretty sure he didn't want to damage Del any.

"oR BitinG, i mEAN niBBLing is oKAY but nOThing that miGHT Make Us-mE BLeed OUt. oKAY?" Delirium said looking at him worriedly. If it was just her then she would have let him throw anything he liked at her but it wasn't just her and that was the problem. She was plural now. Delirium plus one. And this little guest didn't have an invite to the party. Taking a deep breath she took a cautious step back. "I'm pregnant."

For a long moment, all Asher could do was just stare, his face blank at first before realization hit, mixed with an old kind of dread. The kind he hasn't felt since the last time he'd been human. He blinked, stayed quiet, hoping she'd continue and say something other than what he was already thinking. Dreading.
