I'm ALSO here because I loved that ep to the point of needing to post (wow, long time since that's happened). So...here's why I loved it soooo much:

I'm finding this is CRUCIAL these days! I enjoy the show sooooo much more when I'm as unspoiled as I can be, and watch the show through, then tweet and peek at reactions.
The witch sisters were pretty meh for me, but everything else? THAT'S THE STUFF RIGHT THERE. Hit me what that sweet, sweet chemistry. That wrasslin' was a delightful display of meaty thighs and flailing, mile-long limbs and THANK YOU, AMANDA TAPPING. You directed for your audience. ;)
I love watching Rowena, but I get why you say she's tough to pin down. Above all, Rowena is out for Rowena. Period. She's fascinating to watch, and I have this closet wish for her to just once not take Sam for a ride. (I know, I know, she's a villain, Cris.) They're an interesting pair, those two, Sam and Rowena. They're always mutually scamming each other, and Sam's seriously just a stone's throw away from being a witch himself. Rowena is a mighty, mighty witch, but I would grin like a fiend if JUST ( ... )

b) I loved everything you loved about this episode. I watch this show for Sam and Dean, and I so want to SEE and HEAR the brothers talking to each other, about real and deep and meaningful things. Like you said, so much of what draws me in is the push and pull between these two, and when have we had this much of that??? It's what makes this show special, and what keeps me watching. It almost felt like an early seasons episode just because of that (and the wrestling on the car of course...I could watch that for about 10 years...just saying...)

Yup. THIS is the SPN of yore, and I loved it like whoa. Loved pretty much the same things as you -- brother-rasslin'! the parallels! actual canonical references to past episodes! Sam's memories! -- this ep was solid all around. I was absolutely bewitched. 😉

Not reading ep reactions before an episode is--I've found--the key to happiness. :) If you read them, you're going to go into the ep with pre-conceived opinions and you're going to spend all 42 minutes waiting for the things to happen instead of actually following all the steps in the story. And it might happen that the reaction someone else had is completely different from yours. So, yeah, I personally try to avoid twitter before seeing the ep and I'm not reading any ep reactions on LJ before I type up my own.
