Better late than never?

To be honest I didn't feel like I had much to say on this episode and so I didn't posted anything. But because I am slightly OCD I can't miss posting something about 12.17 (there would be a gap and I just can't have that *g*).

so a few things... )

Yes, I know what you mean, there is a bit of a disconnect here due to the brothers not being directly involved in the story lines ( ... )

but Eileen and Sam couldn't be cuter if they tried.

agreed! They were adorable. :)

I loved Mick standing up for himself (but gutted that he didn't at least last another few episodes),

Yes. I was surprised he didn't last longer. It did serve to show us how awful and ruthless the BMoL are.

to show how much he's changed?

Possibly - and to show how ruthless he can actually be (though its also inconsistent because he's the one that hadn't actually "killed" monsters - until the vamp episode.

but I'm hoping that she will end up killing him to protect the boys.

I think that's probably how she'll redeem herself in the end. Or Ketch might be conflicted as he gets to know the boys better etc.

Also the lazy writing was a little annoying too

I find the Duo episodes always rather annoying. They merrily add their own canon without checking past episodes.

I've never craved a MOTW episode with brothers being brothers this much before! Please show!!!

Yay this weeks episode! \o/

I gasped out loud when Mick died. I was liking him better than Mary before this episode, which is sad, I suppose. He seemed to respect and learn from the boys, although once we learn he killed his best friend as a kid, it becomes obvious he's deeply messed up in the head.

So we needed another reminder that Mary's a douche? (sorry...I've tried SO HARD to like her...) I just don't understand what the show is doing with her. At this rate, we'll all be screaming "Good riddance!" when she finally, FINALLY dies. Damn. She had such promise and I WANTED to relate to all her needing time, all her "trying to have it all" (that Bob Seeger song from "Exile on Main Street" comes into my head!) But she's just being SO annoying.

Hi,

I was beginning to like Mick also - at least we could see that he's got some "human" in him. I liked that he was beginning to see the boys differently. He was certainly messed up though. I suspect most BMoL are.

It is very disappointing abut Mary. I hate that we are made to be unsympathetic toward her. I mean, I've accepted the she's flawed (after all, she made a deal with a demon that involved one of her sons), but we're really seeing just how flawed she is. I would love her to be someone the boys could rely on - and that we saw how much she loved her sons. Oh well, I suppose we'll have to wait to see their plans for her are.

I liked what I liked (Eileen! Mick's... redemption? That's not exactly the word I'm looking for, but you know what I mean.) And good hair days are always a plus. And sadly, no Castiel is a plus these days too. As for any disappointments, I am so in love with the TV series The Expanse that I just shrug off most anything else in other series.

Oh The Expanse is good? I've seen it pop up on Netflix and want to catch it. I have a lot of other TV shows that I am loving at the moment (omg, Broadchurch...). I just long to be excited about my show again. I'm pretty easy to please - I just want each ep to be focused on the boys...*g*

OMG - The Expanse! I've watched this week's episode 3x and cried at the end each time. There are 10 eps in season one and 13 in season two. (This week was 2.12.) It's been renewed for season 3 and is based on a series of novels, which have published 6 so far, I think, with more to come ( ... )

Oh yay!

It's so curious... My hubby (who is a hard core sci-fi fan) has been watching this show (and has read all the books) - but I haven't. I've just read this comment aloud to him and he is nodding and say "what?! there's a season 2?!" (our Aussie netflix only has S1). So your comment has worked in two ways - 1) I have some catch up to do! and 2) my hubby learned there's another season (which he is very excited about).

So thanks so much for this. We both have TV to look forward to! :)

I'm not driven to comment much these days either but I'm still watching for the boys and enjoying those bits. Eileen and Sam though! So lovely together. Sam all bashful and cute and respectful. And I too am very concerned the BMOL will bump her off, so maybe the sending her off to Ireland means they won't *fingers crossed*.

I'm miffed they bumped off Mick already. Would it kill the writers to let the boys have an ally for a change? Grrr. I was even ready to forgive his bad accent.

*nods* and *nods*

To be honest I just feel like I haven't anything construct to say about the eps these days. Even when I love an episode (like the last one) I just feel I've run out of constructive things to say. There will always be things I love about any episode. :)

Shame about Mick indeed - just when we were beginning to appreciate him...

I didn't care for either of these last two episodes even though I'd been coasting along ok for the most part this season. The setup for the episode with Mick was so dumb and over the top that I couldn't take it at all seriously. Any organization that takes that much time and effort training recruits doesn't just kill them off unless they considered the recruit a failure in some way (thus preserving their secrecy). So the setup where both were worthy candidates and could only move on by a deathmatch? Did not work for me at all. Plus the characterizations are so stereotypical and hamhanded. I mean, really, they're using a rotary phone from the 1940s ( ... )

Hey! Sorry for late reply...

Any organization that takes that much time and effort training recruits doesn't just kill them off

Good point! They could have "re-trained" him or shipped him off (like they did with Toni).

It's simply a matter of money and using her in only so many episodes, which is also the reason for Cas' absence

I find it extremely annoying - for them to always have to come up with reasons for them not appearing in an episode. Each episode starts with a discussion between them on what Cas is up to or "have you heard from mom". Then after that discussion that are generally not mentioned again.

I expected Eileen to die in this episode. And I still think she will, just not yet.

I suspect it will be after Sam has become quite close to her - maybe even have a romantic liaison. I seriously hope they don't do that, but yeah... probably fridge her to enhance our hero's plight.

But the writing was particularly flat in this episode, it was dull and dumb and I was bored.*nods* I swear the Duo are the worst of all ( ... )

Yeah, I find it really sad to think of them actually ruining Mary's character with the fandom for no good reason. But unfortunately SPN has always had writers who approached the series as a plot-based story with some character moments thrown in rather than the other way around. In some ways it's basically a fantasy-based procedural.
