Warning folks. Don't enter if you don't want negativity. I stopped myself from saying too much on twitter because followers don't have a choice about seeing stuff there. Here ya do. So heed the warning because it ain't pretty...

Boy, am I with you about Claire. Watching her "dying" scene was excrutiating, and not in the way Sam's and Dean's reactions meant us to feel about it. Kathryn's acting is remarkably flat. I could care more about a coatrack.

I liked Mick (is it Mitch or Mick?) better than I expected. He's learning something from the Winchesters, and that's nice to see. There may be something interesting about him yet.

The theme of family and what is it continues to be explored, and I always find that an interesting aspect of the show, especially this season. The werewolf was creating a family for himself by turning people (teenage girls only? or were there others?) while Claire was realizing that the way her adopted family love her actually matters to her (and it's a helluva lot more healthy way to relate to your family than by forcing them to be like you).

Watching her "dying" scene was excruciating,

Yeah, I had to fast forward through that unfortunately.

I could care more about a coatrack.

Ha. :) I WANT to care about her - and I should, but just something about her characterisation rubs me up the wrong way.

I agree Mick is becoming quite interesting.

The family theme is certainly a big one this season. I've actually liked a lot of what they have been doing.

In the producer's preview to this ep, Bob Singer said that this episode drops the start of something that will be played out in season 13.

Could be any of these--Mick's defection from the BMoL; expansion of the hunters world (Claire, Jody, others?); or my personal theory: the BMoL indiscriminate slaughter of the werewolf pack incited attacks on humans that wouldn't have otherwise happened. What if the fallout from the BMoL aggressiveness leads to an escalated war between monsters and humans--that there have been monsters behaving that now become violent in response to being attacked?

Oh yes. I saw that (and had forgotten it).

What if the fallout from the BMoL aggressiveness leads to an escalated war between monsters and humans

This sounds feasible. I always remember that Dabb is the one who wrote that attempted spin off about the warring monster families - I wouldn't be surprised if he's trying to weave that idea into the coming season.

Yes, I also thought that the werewolf's comment was significant about what was to come. After all, we already saw that the vampire attacks brought the Alpha Vamp out of hiding ( ... )

I didn't dislike it as much as I feared I would, largely because J and J's acting convinced me that Sam and Dean were feeling something even if Claire writhing on the couch didn't seem to warrant it. There were moments that I liked her more than usual - 'I get all the votes' was one. But then there were the 'skeever' and 'teen wolf' comments, and just, no.

Ultimately, I'm with you. I just want a few old school episodes about SAM AND DEAN. Ala last season's Red Meat. I want to feel about THEM most of all. I'm amused in the mean time, but I want more than that from this show, at least intermittently.

I actually disliked it more than I thought I would - I saw the preview and even though I knew Claire was going to be in it I really had high hopes for it. Maybe that's why I ended up disliking it so much.

'I get all the votes' was one.

I agree this was a good line. And needed to be said - and good to see Sam back it up after everything that's been done to his body against his will.

I want to feel about THEM most of all.

Definitely. :)

I vaguely remembered it was about werewolves and only caught the last 10 minutes. I can't stand Claire, the dialogue was SO AWFUL. I watched her convulse and really hoped she died. Her coming back to life felt unearned.

I deleted it off the DVR, I just don't care about watching the rest of it.

I have to fast forward during the writhing scene - just too uncomfortable to watch. Usually in eps like this at least some SamnDean nuggets - but it didn't even have those. :(

From what else I've read, there are precious little Sam n' Dean scenes in this. Bah!

yeah. I mean they are in it, but it really wasn't about them. We did see them caring for others and there were some nice bits from them individually - but not those classic SamnDean moments. I saw someone else mention that if one of them had been bitten (rather than Claire) then it might have been more the SPN we're used to seeing. I don't think this season is about their bond - rather the bond they have with others.

I enjoyed this more than you I think, and I found Claire less annoying this time, and I did enjoy Dean's protective father instincts and the way Sam communicates with her. Show seems to like to put them together a lot, and I always enjoy it (especially seeing Sam all quashed up in her car!)

I also warmed to Mick, and loved him seeing this 'grey' hunting world for the first time. Also, I feel like they have to reveal Magda's death now, or else why mention it and flashback it? Maybe Mick will 'turn' to Sam and Dean's side and fess up to everything ie Magda and the special forces guy, and the 'big bad' for the end of the season and into 13 will be the mysterious BMOL 'elders'?

There are a lot of story lines to solve, and I guess maybe that's purposeful so that they can bring in more guest stars and have less J2 due to babies. So yeah, I'm not holding out for a Sam and Dean episode this season, I think we had the Magda one (12.04?) and that's maybe it? But I'll keep my fingers crossed, but my expectations low I think *hugs*
