LJ is still wonderful. Even with Twitter and tumblr I think this is the best place to have really good discussions and get to know people. And make detailed posts and feel like a part of a real community. *hearts* the LJ community.

Most definitely with you there. It's infinitely easier to hold discourse on LJ -- tumble is but a picture book, and 140 character limits don't make for in-depth discussions. ;)

Also agree with you on a possible friending meme. :D

Yes yes - tumblr as a picture book. I flip through the pages with *hearts* in my eyes most of the time. :)

With the friending thing, I'm wondering if it might be about peeps who are active (and don't mind new followers) listing themselves in the comments - and people who might be new to LJ (coming over from tumblr, or just want to see more people on their flist) take a look and can see who to follow. Hmmm....might even be able to include comms. *headscratch* not sure....

Absolutely. Having taken a mostly hiatus from my already patchy Tumblr existence, I sort of feel like it's in the same category as bas jumping for me--often cool and exciting, but traumatic pain I do not need in my life. XD

And you know I'm down for anything that networks and tightens LJ's neighborhoods! BLOCK PARTY, ANYONE??

Oh so true. I find I have to been in a certain frame of mind when I delve into tumblr. Often I'm pleasantly surprised when I go on. The people I follow tend to blog and re-blog great stuff.
