Looking for a new fandom by any chance?! Or even just a new show to watch? If so, check out The Mustekeers. I've totally fallen in love with it

I've really been enjoying this and with all scripted adventure tv - who cares about historical accuracy? It's not pretending to be a documentary.
You forgot the gorgeous horse flesh, beautiful tailoring and the mud and the rain. I'm a sucker for the mud and rain....oh, so THAT'S why I fell in love with SPN?? hehe...SPN needs more mud and rain again - yep, definitely. :))
I've actually been enjoying the political stuff also and it makes me wonder about what was actually going on at the time. Much like Spartacus did, it's made me interested in history (shock horror because I was horrible at history in school) .
And oh yes yes!!! The costuming is glorious! As are the sets (those wonderful rooms!) and I adore the cinematography. And the horses! Hee…and mud and rain (and men in the mud and rain….;D)
*nods* Who wielded the power and influence was far more than just blood lines. The Cardinal and his army, The King and The Musketeers and who married who for allegiance, land and power all had very complicated backgrounds, I expect there's still a lot more of that to come. Royal Courts were full of plotting and intrigue. **rubs hands in glee**
That's because history in school is all about facts and dates and knowing when happened what and what it was named. The interesting stories don't make it into school-history classes. It was the same for me. Not a fan of history in school but love to read/watch stories playing in a historical setting, showing what was going on in that time from the pov of people living in that time.
The books are pretty wonderful, full of comedy as well as drama and Athos does have quiet authority in the books too. He's the one with the tortured past, all noble and suffering - I love that in a hero! LOL
I just started it - catching up with it will be my distraction show for todays ironing marathon (yes, perfect spring weather and I'm doing laundry...pre-travel crazyness). The only thing I hope is watching it now will not get me in trouble once Doctor Who comes back considering who the new Doctor is playing here.
It is a little disconcerting seeing Mr Capaldi there but then again, every time I see him I hear him swearing like a trooper like he did in The Thick of it which will be even worse when watching him as Dr Who !
Athos!! He is my favorite, too. Which is hilarious, because he's always my favorite, but I always expect that a new adaptation will shift my attentions. I have loved Santiago Cabrera since Heroes, the actor who plays Porthos is SMOKIN' HOT, and I do love me some Aramis/Porthos, but. Apparently I Have a Type.
yay Athos!! And I am falling for Aramis as well (especially after ep6). I'll have to start reading some fic- I can imagine Aramis/Porthos would be smoking!:))

Why why why do they NEVER get Athos right though? This one is growing on me but - Athos in the book is just awesome. Winge winge...
Never mind, back to the leather! Mud! Horses! Costumes! Bromance!
