I'm thinking I'd like to offer myself for fandomaid but I'm not sure how to do "buy it now" for vids. Have any of you offered vids? Maybe it could be 3 x 30sec- 1min vids? Does that work? Or just one vid..but at what price? Ack! I wanna help and I like making vids for other people but maybe it doesn't work so well in "buy it now" style. (I'm not sure ( Read more... )

I don't know but however you do it - I will happily donate to get a vid from you. And I don't mind how long it takes either....because donating is important and I'd do it anyway but now I can get an Ash48 vid out of it!

Thanks sweetie! I'm just trying to get my head around how I'll do it. A while back I offered to make 15sec "that vid you once made" type thing (I think yours was the only one I ended up doing) -hmmm…. maybe something like that…

I totally understand where you're coming from-I definitely wanted to offer something, but Buy It Now and vids can be overwhelming for the vidder sometimes. I ended up offering icons-no one has bought any, which is sad, but I feel good knowing I'm trying-and I'm filling a friend's request in the request thread so I'm helping a little at least.

It's awesome of you to want to help hon *hugs*

Thanks for mentioning your icon offer - I'll go put a bid on it. I've been using the same icon the entire time I've been in the fandom and could definitely use more!

What?! But your icons are gorgeous!

I would like to offer gifs (that'd be less time consuming and I could offer more) but my gifs aren't very good (and that's not false modesty…compared to the artistic stuff people do with gifs (and icons!) I can't even compare…;/).

xx

I think a lot of people are way underpricing. That's nice on one hand since it lets people without much money claim things, but the point is to raise funds, not to give fanworks away!

It's reeeelllly difficult to set a price. With the auctions you end up making one thing to the highest bidder. In some ways that's good because they set the price and you and up making one thing (in my case a vid). With this you have to set a price on yourself which is REALLY awkward. You have to gage what you think someone would donate for you to make them something. If you put a high price (because you want the most you can get for the charity) you look like you have tickets on yourself.

Vidding takes a lot of time so I'd just set a fair price - I'd have thought either saying a flat price of $30(?) or maybe say $15 per minute and set a max length?

And as for numbers - just say what you think your could get done and say what kind of timescale suits you - I've seen lots of authors and artist saying they won't be able to deliver until next year. It's fine to say that up front then if people want something quick they won't buy!

Thanks hun. I know my timescale would have to be next year. I have never defaulted on a auction vid so I'm good for it, but yeah, too much going on for anything to be done this year. Thanks for the ideas! I think I'm formulating an idea…xox
