I don't know why this still shocks me but it does.

This person (LezraGR) has not only posted a couple of my vids but has also put their own watermark on it. They have also blocked me (and probably others) from commenting so I can't even protest it. What the...? There's a heap of other vids there, which I'm sure are stolen also ( Read more... )

Thank you so much. <33 Hopefully he'll (I've recently learned it's a he..) will learn that SPN fans have each others' backs and will stop taking other peoples work.

Ugh. It's so pathetic that people do this. I'm sorry that you've been left with no avenue of recourse, hun.

Perhaps it's worth adding your own watermark from here on in.

I know. I just scratch my head over this stuff because surely they can't get any satisfaction from receiving either comments or subs from posting other peoples vids.

I have considered watermarking my vids. I'd want it to be unobtrusive though. Maybe a tiny one...

I've commented on her YoutTube theft too. I disliked the video for that reason because it's awesome and it's YOURS.

I had a look at the FB page with the vids, and the personal page linked from it. If the picture is of them, it looks like a teenage boy from Greece. I can't see any way for a non-friend to post a comment there. I don't have a YT account, but see that a number of people have commented in protest!

I completely understand why vidders would want to use watermarks, but as a viewer, I avoid watermarked vids (and grumble internally about the CW logo on the show !). I find having a logo on the screen detracts a lot from the viewing experience.

Hmm, it's a tricky one, because you can't really inform Youtube about it as you yourself are infringing copyright by using clips from the show.

Hopefully they will take down the vids now they have been found out and called on it.

*Edit* I've left a comment on Woo Hoo, but other vids comments are being screened.

Yeah... it's always tricky. As vidders we claim "transformative works" under copyright so there is a legit way we can post vids. But it still doesn't mean we can claim someone as stolen something from us. And with so few view counts I'm sure YT wouldn't even care.

It's curious about the comment blocking. I think he's probably had a few negative comments in the past and started to block vids. Woo Hoo seems to have slipped through. - for the moment anyway.

And thanks honey. If for nothing else he'll realise that stealing SPN vids will mean that he'll be found out.
