What is the deal with "gifts" on social websites? Like the v-gifts on here, or facebook, for example.

Seriously, paying money to have a stupid little picture show up? Not even something cool but a tiny, pixelated image?

I don't understand. It's the most idiotic thing I can think of at the moment.
