We were Epic when I sadly moved. The biggest treasure problem we had (leaving aside the book-keeped efforts which at least two of us enjoyed) was that we kept refusing to sell treasure. Life became much easier when the DM let us enchant items at their GP sale cost.
Our Paladin had a contest on to see how much gold he could piss away destroying things with the face of orcus on. He was doing quite well when we stopped. I think the single biggest abount of gold he wasted was 150,000gp jewelled sceptre snappage. Or possibly a gemstudded altar, I forget. I like the way "rewards" have a gold piece value - the DM tended to keep a vague track of how much he'd smashed up with an eye towards divine boons and such.
I love treasure in D&D 4e. I love the roleplaying that comes with it if you aren't obsessed with gearing up for raids.
