[Ever since her meeting with Namine, this has been eating at her. It all goes back to the conversation with Souji, about how little she and her friends knew about the battles and how weirdly the robots behaved, and now - she knows so little that her imagination can run wild, and it's travelled to some disturbing places. Too disturbing to do this ( Read more... )

Hello Nakama. The answer is yes. The river of Death and the realm of the Charter both run alongside the more solid world of the Kingdom. And there is the Wall, which separates the Kingdom from the world of Ancelstierre.

Hi Lirael.

I don't understand.
How can a world not be solid?

If you only go there in spirit, it isn't as solid as the world you live in most of the time. And the realm of the Charter is nothing but millions and millions of Charter marks, so you don't really even go there, I suppose. But Death you do, you send your spirit, while your body freezes over in Life.

What's a Charter mark?

Signs that describe and affect the world. Did you see the mark on my forehead the other day? That shows that I am connected to it. Or I was, before I came here. It's how a mage does magic, where I come from.

Oh, okay.
It sounds really, really different from my world, sorry I'm taking so long to understand.

That's all right. I have a hard time understanding anything from worlds without magic, myself. How does anything get done?

Well, it mostly runs on electricity, like here.

That seems a lot like magic, to me, more like magic than true magic since I don't really understand how it works. So I suppose we both just don't understand the other way of doing things.

Why did you want to know about other worlds?

[Because now she's curious.]

[Permatext, stupid LJ]

I just wondered how common it was for there to be worlds within worlds.
If it could be possible for my own world.

Stupid LJ indeed :P Looking forward to having things in the custom-comments format....

I don't see why not. Ancelstierre, the world alongside ours, has no magic whatsoever except where it is close to ours, but magic could be transported there, and our world touched it. So anything is possible. Is there any magic at all in your world, or only electricity?

It's hard to explain. I knew one

someone with powers, but it was all connected to one weird thing.
It's not common, I guess.

All right. Then uncommon or not, I think it's definitely more possible, if there is any magic at all.

Yeah.

It could just mean really bad things.
I wish I knew more.
