More than a few heads turned as Allen walked into the dining hall that morning. This, in and of itself, was not unusual; the Order was always recruiting and the boy's reputation preceded him for several miles in every direction. Allen typically acknowledged the attention -- when he noticed it -- with a smile and then proceeded to ignore it using his massive morning meal ( ... )

"I," Allen snarled, "am not a girl. Despite what that despicable person thinks!"

"I didn't say you were!" Lavi laughed, as Allen shoved him around the room for no other reason than to shove him around. Allen made an inarticulate sound of pain and trauma, and said in a very horrible voice, "Then why are you smiling like that?" and Lavi was reminded, suddenly, of the fight with the Noah twins. His laughter abruptly died in his throat, and he looked at Allen with a wary eye.

The point of recording history was to learn from it. Lavi had almost forgotten how evil Cross made the younger boy in all his enjoyment of Allen in a dress. He'd gotten so wrapped up in the details that he'd forgotten the importance behind the facts.

Allen took revenge, usually with a smile. He wasn't smiling yet, so Lavi still had hope. Sort of ( ... )
