I listen to a lot of music -- many different kinds, and often. But listen: Tori Amos has changed my life. Affected me so profoundly that I actually look at things differently. It is hard for me to articulate -- and, considering how much I like to write, that is really saying something ( Read more... )

Well said. I don't think anyone who listens to Tori, and I mean *really* listens to her music - the notes, the words, the voice - cannot help falling under her spell. "Choirgirl" was the first album of Tori's I heard, almost a decade ago, and I've been obsessed with her ever since. There is a Tori song for every mood, every kind of person you meet, every emotion you can feel. My current obsession is "Yes, Anastasia."

Ironically, I'm working on a soundtrack for each character in Woven, as I edit it. It's a fun exercise to let Courtney (oy_angelina) know what kind of vibe I'm getting for each character and how I see them progressing in the story. And every single compilation has at least one, if not more, track by Tori. Just goes to show that everything in life can be applied to Tori. ;)

I know exactly what you mean. And even the SAME Tori song can take on different meaning to reflect every kind of person, every emotion.

That soundtrack idea is brilliant... I don't know the characters, but tell me, what is the protagonist's Tori song?

And what would yours be? I think mine would be iieee or Pandora's Aquarium. Or The Waitress ;)

Exactly! Or the same song could take on a different meaning depending upon your own frame of mind/context. A lot of the songs evolve with you ( ... )
