Some people wake up with a hangover and no money. The morning after my last midterm (and post-midterm celebrating), I bounced out of bed to find temp job paperwork in the "sent" folder. I'm okay with this outcome.

That would indeed be a leek and if Wikipedia is to be believed, you can either boil or fry it in addition to eating it raw.

yes, leek. Be sure you wash it well--I think How To Cook Everything Vegetarian says to cut it in half longways and rinse well. Leeks can be sandy. They're quite good, though. You can make potato and leek soup, or it seems you can bake them--

Leek. You slice them across, so that you have lots of circles, and then sautee. I like to add them to soups.

Top left to right: carrots, cilantro, raddiochio (completely misspelled), basil(?), cabbage, lettuce
kinda sorta bottom: two celery bunches and at the very bottom, two leeks.

Looks like a nice salad and some soup to me!
