Oh no he didn't!
My dad just came to see me with the smile of the cat who just ate the canary and told me "So, in about a month it's your birthday isn't it?"... picture me not quite understanding where the whole thing was going because 1) I didn't get ANY sleep last night due to an alarm which decided its own purpose in life was to go off every ten minutes for the whole fricking night and 2) I'm fighting with the conclusion of my super seekrit project and damn if I have the slightest idea what to write. Anyway I looked at him and nodded (didn't trust myself to speak in case he was just checking the date of my b-day having forgotten it. What? It happened. Well not to my dad but still you never know) and he handed me a paper with a picture.
He's not just thinking about gifting me a brand new laptop... HE ALREADY ORDERED IT ONLINE AND IT SHOULD ARRIVE IN A MATTER OF *DAYS*!!!!!!! Oh my God!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
I love my old laptop, he's a friend, he was the one I wrote my thesis on, he has a name and he's been the first computer I've ever owned. But he is three and half years old, he has 512 MB RAM and 40 GB of Hard Disk so the storage space it's next to nothing... he freezes when the Norton Antivirus starts running and I practically have to wait until it's finished before going on with what I'm doing.
The new one has 2 GB RAM and 250 GB of Hard disk!!!!! The internal Hard disk will be bigger than the external one I use for storage!!!!! OMG!!! Plus he has 4 USB doors (while mine has only one therefore to copy material from the USB key to the external HD I have to attach the key, copy whatever to the laptop, detach the key, attach the ext HD and finally transfer.... easy uh?) and he reads the cards of my digital camera so I can put photos on him directly from those \o/!!!!
He's nothing fancy or colored but it's a BRAND NEW LAPTOP!!!!!!!!!! *caresses old one feeling slightly guilty*
In conclusion I'm so happy I could scream from the top of my lungs *G*
