Sorry for spamming today but my beloved Fellow Hermit nightrider101 subtly nudged me to talk about my feelings towards the season finale. I simply can't deny her anything ;)

I didn't even realize the double meaning of the episode before you subtly pointed it out. I'm dense or something *g* Although, the question of the day is if the people who named the episode realized the double meaning or not. I sort of want to think that at least some people did since there are so obvious baits in the series for all the Arthur/Merlin shippers.

Very much loved the finale myself too. Had a very nice Merlin marathon on Sunday when I watched all the episodes I had missed, beginning from the one that was aired while we were in Paris. Yes, I was a lot behind but at least I got to enjoy a lot of nice interaction all at once. Okay, there were weaker episodes too but most of it was very good. And there was Gwaine.

I suck at these analysis so I'll just say that I pretty much agree with you and leave it at that. *g*

Sorry I'm late, I started watching Hawaii 5-0. I basically have been forced to watch it (yeah, the same way I always force you to watch things... *g*) but it's not bad at all! And the slash... oh dear! They're almost as obvious as Merlin and Arthur!! LOL! And James was in the first episode! I squeed ;)

Wow you really had quite the marathon with Merlin! And Gwaine... *sighs dreamily* I think I have a parallel ship now. Merlin/Gwaine! It is canon and I think that, since Arthur has Gwen on the side, Merlin might as well have a boyfriend of his own when his husband is busy with his Queen, right? *g*

*huggles*

I love your logic with Merlin and Arthur, hon!

I've been watching Hawaii 5-0 too. Started because of Alex since I liked him in Moonlight but the slash really just writes itself in that series. I'm behind in that too. I sort of stopped watching everything after Paris for some reason and now I'm playing catch up :D

I never watched Moonlight (at the time I couldn't watch vampires that weren't Spike or Angel *g*) but I knew about Alex, and Sonia kept nudging me in the direction of this series *g* Lots of slash, yep ;)

Quotage! It makes me happy. *G*

The kissing I was fine with. I'm okay with Gwen/Arthur as it was here. But the violins! Ugh! *cringes* Loathe them.

I'm looking forward to next series, though. Any word on what that will entail?

I didn't much like the kiss near the round table, tbh, but the final one I was mostly ok with. It was done fine. The first one, though... *gags*

I remember one of the producers/writers saying the Knights were going to stick around now but if Uther's still alive... how? Maybe Arthur will get regency since his father doesn't look fit enough to rule anymore?

From Merlin's comment at the end, I'm thinking this might be true. If Uther DOES keep the throne, then I'm sure Arthur will fight for his knights and get Uther to make allowances or something. On the one hand, I'm really happy Uther is still around, but on the other .... how the heck are they gonna swing this?

I'd love that! "No, Father, I'm going to keep my Knights and you don't have a say in the matter. Besides, Merlin will throw a tantrum if Gwaine isn't allowed to stay, and you know how difficult it is to keep the wife happy!" Lol

It'll be interesting to see how they will use Uther in s4...

YAY! A meeting! :)

I have so much love for Gwaine that it hurts. He's such a great character! Easy on the eyes, too. ;)

I absolutely agree on the round table scene. Seeing Arthur come into his own and grow into the king we all knew he could be was truly a treat to watch. Solid acting all around, too. Gaius remains the man. Hands down.

There was definitely some feminism fail, IMHO. Gather rags for bandages! *facepalm*

Can we have a freaking magic showdown already?! It almost seems like Merlin's magic is going backwards. At the end of season 1, he could control life and death and now it seems like his skills are floundering rather than growing stronger.

*snicker* I love it when magical armies explode and NO ONE ASKS WHY.

All in all, I loved it. I wasn't expecting the big reveal no matter what I'd give to see it onscreen. Hopefully with the new season we'll see Merlin grow into his magic more.

Well, Merlin ages backwards, in some versions of the legends, right? Maybe the writers are adapting that to Merlin's magic. Oh, but that would require some deep thought on their end. (I feel as if I'm starting to get very cynical about Merlin lately.)

You have a great point, though. Most powerful warlock? And he gets to do what with it? Pretty much nothing.

Merlin's one of those shows where I just have to embrace the fail...frequently. I still love it, but I definitely didn't feel any major evolution this season except for Arthur in the finale.

It feels like the writers don't have any real direction which is frustrating for us. I actually don't mind Gwen. I could do without the Romeo and Juliet violins that were mentioned above, but overall, she's a good character, IMHO.

It's high points are so good. The problem is that it isn't consistent, and it doesn't allow the characters stable growth and maturity, only when it's convenient. For a laugh, Merlin will do anything. Arthur needs to be an obtuse ass? Sure. Why not.

Gwen. Ah, Gwen. Yes. (And those violins. Please. Somebody take them away.) And the Dragon. He's so much more than a taxi and fortune teller. But he's expensive, so . . .

My one wish for S4 is for a steady, logical progression. Yes, it's a family show and kids watch, but kids are more intelligent than you give them credit for.
