Any day during which she had to sit at her desk and face the small mountain of paperwork she let accumulate over the previous month's time was a day Hestia wanted to drink away. In fact, she'd be out at a pub now if her boss hadn't threatened her with an immediate suspension without pay and her wand for two weeks if she didn't get her act together.

So now she sat sprawled across the top of her desk, face down on top of a particularly thick stack of files. Tattooed fingers drummed against the desktop in a rhythm only she could hear. This was maddening.

"What the bloody hell does any of this have to do with catchin' the bad guys, 'ey?" she muttered to herself.

The sound of approaching footfalls caught Hestia's attention, and she knew immediately who it was. Without looking at her young partner, the brunette spread her arms wide atop the desk.

"If you've got more of this shit just drop it on my head now an' put me out of my misery."

"You just have to sign it and then it can be filed." she said with a small smile to her flustered looking partner. Ginny really was better at the paperwork portion, but because she wasn't an actual auror yet, she had to have Hestia okay her work and sign off on it. She tried to make things easier, but she wasn't a huge fan of the paperwork either, she was just better at it.

"Do you maybe want to take a break from the paper pushing and go practice in the dueling chamber?" she asked, looking at her. She knew that there were necessary evils to every job, but beauracracy was a pain. She gave her partner a small smile, "Might help you get rid of all the papercuts." she teased.

"Whoever wins springs for lunch tomorrow?" she asked.

The brunette reluctantly sat up straight, long ink-covered arms reaching above her head to stretch out tightened muscles in her back. Head tilted to the left as godiva-colored eyes slid to look the redhead up and down. In truth, Ginny had improved by leaps and bounds since Hestia had been forced to take her on as a trainee. The brunette was sure, though she would never actually say it out loud, that the youngest Weasley child would surpass Hestia's own skill level in a few short years. Maybe even as little as one. But again, she'd never admit it.

"Right then," she answered. "S'pose I can handle that. Sure you're ready for me?"

A small smirk curved one corner of her mouth upward, a manicured eyebrow arching into the stars tattooed across one corner of her forehead and temple. When Hestia stood, she was a fair bit taller than the teenager, and she looked down at her teasingly.

Ginny just smiled to Hestia. "Oh I don't know, you're getting kind of slow in your old age, Hestia." she teased, though she was usually the one that ended up buying their lunches because she got her butt kicked, but it was how she learned. "If anything, it gets you away from the mountain of paper pushing." she offered, trying to sweeten the deal a little bit.

It was a usual part of their day, the practical application portion, sometimes they spent it in the practice rooms, sometimes it was out in the field, but there was always some practical wand slinging of some kind. She just waited for her answer, "I'll spring for thai if you win."
