I honestly don't think this will hurt her with religious conservatives; their own families are full of this kind of thing since they don't believe in birth control or sex education. I think it hurts more with non-religious conservative voters because it emphasizes how dumb the hard right is on sex education and it illustrates the fact that the choice Bristol got to make is one that John McCain and Sarah Palin would like to take away from other women.

it's strange to me because i'm not sure how you please these people.

my mom was a single mom. she was somewhat coerced into having sex with my dad.

people told her to have an abortion, but that was against her religion. as was contraception.

she had me.

but then instead of praising her for having the baby and taking responsibility, i wasn't allowed to be baptized or grow up in the church since I was a bastard. She couldn't get rid of me, but she was also looked down on for having me.

And it wasn't her fault. So there is no win in that situation.
