Blast from the Past

Yesterday, or was it the day before yesterday, my boyfriend was bitching a bit about my Lifejournal. Not really, he just said (sarcastically) that I should use Facebook as I like it so much. I said LJ came before Facebook and then went to check, yes, it did, and I even joined before Facebook became available ( Read more... )

Well, still here... just barely. Haven't even got the energy to get Dreamwidth started up. Facebook did end up being the priority, but I still check my flist every time I go online. Not gone. Gone into near-full time lurker mode.

Sad to see LJ crumbling. But it's also their fault for letting it become that way. *slightly disgusted*

But you should have so many stories to tell from your residency :) I'm sure you can't post those on Facebook :)

You make several good points, Sil. But Veat is right too. I haven't felt really comfortable posting stuff here ever since LJ's first "witch hunt." I try to pop in here though every now and then to say hello *waves hi ( ... )

The reason why I never moved to Dreamwidth or Tumblr and why it took me years to even open a Facebook account is that I don't like having everything strewn out all over the internet. With LJ I have everything in one cozy place. Now I've heard that Dreamwidth allows you to move all your content over to them and that's great, but it still means that I'd have to log in here and there to check on updates. It seems like such a bother :) Does Dreamwidth really have a community comparable to LJ? The last time I checked the communities that moved there after the big exodus mostly closed again.

I'll give it a try though. I guess I can lurk a bit and take a look at least. Do you still have my email addy? If not I can send you a PM :)

Yeaaah I feel the same way, although I haven't been around nearly as long as some. I'm definitely staying here on LJ though...

Glad to hear that. And yes, late answers are usually late :)

I know what you mean I sometimes go back and spend hours reading through my old LJ posts. That's also the reason why I keep LJ and try to still update as often as possible! ^__^;

And yes, so many people who were regular commenters and whose life you followed were suddenly gone without any notice :(

I think LJ still has the "journal" part in it, which is what Facebook and Co. are lacking.

*waves hi* I am sort of still here. I don't update, but do log in on occasion to view updates in some of the communities and then to check if any people posted.

Basically same as me :) Only I don't really have any other place to fangirl, so I still occasionally do it here.
