One of my favorite songs for this time of year is "Fairytail in New York", in December 1987, reaching Number 2 with a duet with Shane MacGowan and Kristy MacColl. Here is a clip from 1988:

See, this explains a lot. The version I'd heard was Kirsty and the Pouges, and was from sometime recently.
