Oh, did you like The Countess? It would be fun to see that and the Anna Friel version and compare them. I'm a bit hesitant though because violence with sharp objects creeps me out, I would probably just keep my eyes closed for the whole time :|
I must admit I was a bit disappointed. I thought the romance (+ Daniel Brühl) made a rather unoriginal motivation for Erzsébet. There are so many other possibilities to tell her story (if the rumors are true, she was clearly a sociopath; if they were not, the male dominated world was so afraid of an independent woman they had to bring her down) it seemed to me superfluous to throw a love story as the main motivation in the mix.
Oh, and I really, really want to see the Anna Friel version! I adore Anna Friel. I doubt one of the nearby theatres will show it, though.
Ten minutes in I thought: This is a really, really pretty movie, but I can tell you in exact details what is going to happen the next 140 minutes. Besides, as much as I approve of being nice to Mother Nature and respecting other cultures etc etc, the Deep Message Of The Movie was embarrassingly unsubtle and patronizing. It irked me. I was kind of in love with Neytiri, though. She was awesome. <3

I really liked all the effects and how it was made, but plot-wise it was kind of a cliche.
